I believe it was around the age of four that the singing, dancing and acting lessons began, and I'm not gonna lie... for a 4-year-old, I had some serious swag....
I spent every waking moment performing for anyone who would listen... even laryngitis couldn't keep this tiny tot from going on stage as Mary in The Christmas Story during the end of year kindergarten recital.
Soon enough, junior school began and I made it my business to spend the next twelve years at Methodist Ladies' College involved in every school play, musical and dance production that would take me. However... if I'm going to be totally honest here, being at an all girls school with a 'husky voice' generally meant that I was always cast as a man.... *sigh*... Most memorable roles include Oliver Twist, Professor Henry Higgins and Atticus Fitch. But shout out to the boobs that finally came in at the ripe ole age of seventeen when at long last I was cast as The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. Boom!
By age 10, I starred in my first short film, Through My Eyes, playing a child who had lost her father and her sight in a car accident. By 15, I had received the highest possible score amongst anyone in the state of Western Australia, to undertake The Trinity College of London Speech and Drama examinations, three years in a row.
I choreographed the inter-school IGSSA dance festival two years in a row and at the conclusion of my twelve years of schooling I was awarded the prestigious Drama Prize and scored a ranking of 93.00 on my Territory Entrance Examinations for Drama Studies.
After high school, I set my sights on bigger and better things, and as someone who always liked to run before they could walk, I decided I was ready to move to NYC. I was accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Art, although I ended up attending Stonestreet Studios at Tisch University of the Arts, NYU instead. It was here that I had the chance to be in my first feature film, Grace and The Storm, a film apart of the first Project Greenlight with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
After NYU I travelled the States and Europe for a year and got up to all the things one is advised definitely not to do as a teenager... Upon arriving home I auditioned for the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts which hails alumni from the likes of Hugh Jackman, Jai Courtney, Frances O'Connor, Tim Minchin and Marcus Graham to name a few. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into their three year conservatory Performing Arts program.
After my time at WAPPA, I was cast as the lead role in the Australian feature Verite, AKA Moments of Darkness directed by Adrian Cabrie, filmed in Melbourne. Verite was officially selected for screening at the London Independent Film Festival, First Take Film Festival, BridgeFest and was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. After that I was cast in a number of commercials, shorts and features, most notably The Course directed by Miranda Edmonds starring Trilby Glover (Righteous Kill, Son of The Mask) and Tom O'Sullivan ( X-Men Origins Wolverine).
A more recent feature of mine, Bitter Art directed by Michael Hatch starring Christopher Morris (Home and Away) won multiple awards at festivals such as the Hawaii International Film Festival, the Australian Film Festival, and the Beijing International Film Festival and is now available on Amazon and iTunes (did you like that little plug?) .... I was also the face of an Australian National Commercial Campaign for the Health Benefit Fund airing for over two years.
If you are still reading this, I commend you! Cause here is the part that I decide the city of Lost Angels is likely short of actors and I should probably relocate to help pitch in.... you're welcome.
Upon arrival, I set up shop, began classes, encountered all of the stereotypes L.A has to offer and eventually landed a small role in the feature film Amelia's 25th directed by Martín Yernazian, starring acclaimed director Robert Rodriguez, Academy award nominee Jennifer Tilly (Bullets Over Broadway, Liar Liar), Danny Trejo (Machete), Margaret Cho (Drop Dead Diva), Michael Biehn (The Terminator) and Electra Avellan (Grindhouse).
Since then, the last few years are somewhat of a blur... I blame the alcohol mostly... but amongst the blackouts, I managed to write and star in my own successful web series The Chronicles of a Man Child, directed by Richard J. Lee, starring Jessica Rose of Lonelygirl15 fame and You Tube sensation Taryn Southern. It was a very proud moment when Man Child saw nominations at the 2012 Hollyweb Festival for Best Comedy and Best New Web Series.
I had an awesome experience on an episode of the hit television series, Glee, where I'm almost certain I managed to offend John Stamos in the make-up trailer with my 'Aussie Humor', or maybe lack thereof... I got my green card, I fist pumped with Leonardo DiCaprio on a dance floor and I finally came around to spicy tuna on crispy rice.
I worked in film development as an intern at some amazing production companies such as Indian Paintbrush, Scott Free Productions, Good Universe and Pearl St Films and since then have opened by own boutique production company, Smoking Dog Pictures LLC. I took some more classes with the Upright Citizens Brigade, Ivanna Chubbick, Anthony Meindl Acting Studio, I got myself an amazing singing coach who pretends to enjoy the songs I write, and now I find myself studying with Margie Haber and The Groundlings.
Most recently, I played the lead role of Heather alongside Mischa Barton (The O.C) in the feature, Deserted, also starring Winter Ave Zoli (Sons of Anarchy), Trent Ford (Gosford Park), Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Jake Busey (Starship Troopers), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Jackson Davis (Lonelygirl 15) and Gerry Bednob (The 40 Year Old Virgin). Written and Directed by Ashley Avis of Winterstone Pictures, edited by Oscar nominee Douglas Crise (Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Ocean's 11, Traffic) and sound design by Oscar winner Ben Wilkins (Whiplash, Star Trek).
In my spare time I look at pictures of sausage dogs (*translation wiener dogs) on instagram, I karaoke as much Stevie Wonder as humanly possible and I wear my workout clothes to every other place except the gym. I also hate kale and I refuse to drink coconut water.
If you made it the whole way through this you are a champion! You are now allowed to pass go, collect $200 and go straight to my reel. Happy watching!
